The Friends of Be Prepared – The Story of Scouting & The Story of Guiding
In 2002 Colin Ovenden set up The Friends of Be Prepared – The Story of Scouting with the aim to encourage, support and promote the work of Be Prepared – the Story of Scouting Museum Trust (Charity Reg No. 1070181) by enabling those involved in Scouting, all visitors and donors, to also get involved with suggesting ways of enhancing the work of the Trust. As a ‘Supporters Club’ they would be helping to ensure the continued growth and success of the Museum. In return ‘Friends’ were offered a Friends Badge, a copy of the Trusts Annual Review, an exclusive Day when the Museum would be open members of the ‘Friends Group’ and their guests. Also, it was an opportunity to share the commitment of the Trustees in achieving their objective to advance the education of the public in the history of Scouting and Guiding.
In 2010 The Friends of Be Prepared – The Story of Guiding was also set up to enable those in Guiding to get involved in the same way as those in Scouting.
